RE: eTrailer.com

I've had great service from them as well. 2 Titan hitches from them and a class 3 for my Jeep.

RE: battery isolator

It's the round isolator relay. I was hoping that someone could look under the hood of their truck and see where the installer grabbed the switched 12v line from.

battery isolator

I've re-installed all the camper stuff from my old truck onto my new truck and I have a question on the isolator. I need to find a 12v wire that is switched on by the ignition to run to the isolator. Could someone tell me or show me a picture of where you or the dealer got this switched 12v power from? My truck is an '05 F350 PSD.

Very nice! I bet that 7.3L Powerstroke chugs along just fine. I miss my 7.3L.

RE: To unload or not to unload?

If it's 2 or more nights, the camper comes off. Most of the time, I have it off the truck.

RE: Torklifts installed!

It's unbelievable how hard it is to drill through a truck frame. I had to do it to mount the Titan hitch on my '96 Ford and it was tough.
...Outfitter installed ours on the Silverado 2500HD, LB and I'll tell you that I wouldn't have done the install if you paid me $5000 cash!!
The guy that installed it was a veteran of well over 300 installs, and he said drilling our truck frame was like drilling through 2-inches of titanium.
Nope. You couldn't pay me enough to go through that distress.
Cheers,
Silver-

RE: Would you buy a diesel again (second time)

After having gas trucks and moving over to my first diesel last year, I'm a committed diesel man from now on.

RE: Camper's Loaded, the True test of the airbags

I've had airbags on both my F250 and F350 trucks. I found that running about 80psi to be perfect for my camper on either trucks. I couldn't imagine carrying the camper without them.

RE: 2009 F150 Heavy Duty Payload Package

Is there a full-floating rear axle out back or is it the same standard semi-floating unit?? 1/2 ton trucks just aren't designed for heavy duty use. Maybe for a pop up but that's about it.

RE: How to Unload on a Slant -- NOT!!!

Ok, now I feel like an idiot.
Those 'chains' are 2 small branches of the plant in the foreground, to the right of the camper.

RE: How to Unload on a Slant -- NOT!!!

In the second picture it looks to me like he attached some chains to the back of it for some peace of mind.
Dropped my wife off at her friends place and saw this across the street. It's sitting on stacked up 4x & 6x blocks.
Been a couple of weeks. Hear it's still there & upright. What do you all think the reaction around the front jack attachments are?

RE: Cabover Shock Absorbers

I had the Lance struts on my '96 Ford supercab and they made a HUGE difference in the ride. On my 2000 Ford crewcab, the ride of truck with the camper on it was really quite good so I opted not to put them on.

I put a set of Rieco's on my Lance and it just clears the wheel wells on a late model Ford dually.

RE: Cab Struts on older Ford

Dale,
Yes, I've still got the 9800. It's a great camper. No, the 2000 Crew Cab doesn't porpoise at all. There's a pretty noticeable difference on the ride between the 2 trucks. I had to put airbags, struts and Rancho shocks on my '96 but the 2000 I only needed the air bags. It rides so nice with the camper on it.

RE: Cab Struts on older Ford

Here are a couple of pictures on my '96 Ford. Not the greatest example but it's what I could find. They literally made a night and day difference on this truck. I initially had reservations about having them put on the pillars but never once in 10 years did it cause any problems. On my 2000 F350 Crew Cab I don't need them.

RE: A truck Camper or is it a trailer?

I don't like it. You now have a truck camper that has to have trailer tags. You might as well have a trailer.

RE: Bolt camper to truck?

I don't think you'd want to do that. It would put to much stress on the camper. My happijak turnbuckles loosen up some and I need to re-tighten them but it doesn't take much time to just go around your camper and re-tighten them as needed. I'd rather have my camper move around some and let the turnbuckles take the stress off the camper than having it not move around and letting the stresses of the truck going down the road tear up the camper.

RE: Reclassifying TC at the California DMV

What are you trying to accomplish with this?
You aren't reclassifying the TC you will be changing the trucks registration.
I was told that all you need to do is bring the truck to the DMV with the camper on it. They will reclassify your truck as a passenger vehicle and issue new tags that identify it as such.
The downside to this is that if you EVER take the camper off and drive around and a cop sees you there will be a ticket (those new tags tell him there should be a TC or shell on there). You also will be unable to use your truck as a "truck". That is no hauling stuff to the dump or bringing things home from the lumber yard. You can also get a ticket if say you have sold the TC and you are out shopping for a new one in your empty truck.
Also if for some reason (bought out of state, from a friend, etc) you didn't pay sales tax on the camper when you bought it, you will when you do this.
IMO unless you actually intend to NEVER take the TC off the truck, the money you save on your truck's registration isn't worth it.
I have to agree with this. You might as well have a motorhome. A relative of mine did this exact same thing and ended up getting a ticket because he was hauling something to the dump and didn't have his camper on his truck. Such a waste of a truck.
